Model Report Legislation.
Before registering a commercially imported, right hand drive vehicle, an Enhanced Single Vehicle Approval (ESVA) test will need to be applied for and passed. At the time the test is applied for, proof must be provided to the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) that the vehicle complies with certain European regulations. If the vehicle has a Japanese de-registration document this covers some, if not all, of these regulations. For any items not covered, the cheapest and easiest way of proving compliance is by renting the use of a model report.
When do I need a Model Report?
If you are importing a vehicle first manufactured in Japan any time after the end of 1996, a Model Report will be the cheapest and easiest way to prove that the vehicle complies with European Noise and Exhaust Emission requirements. The vehicle will be assessed against the report at the time of the ESVA test. These reports are available to rent, either by phone or online, from Model Reports.com. Please check our online database before importing a car for Model Report availability.
How and where do I get my Model Report?

The right to use these reports can be rented from Model Reports.com for the sole purposes of the ESVA test. It is a very quick and easy process and we aim to cover all popular makes and models in the coming years.
